What is the GAPS approach?

The GAPS Nutritional Protocol is a therapeutic approach that focuses on repairing the gut lining, rebalancing the microbiome, and restoring communication between the gut and brain. Developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, GAPS uses nutrient-dense, easily digested foods to allow the gut to heal and the body to detoxify naturally.

Although originally designed to help children with behavioural and learning challenges, the GAPS protocol is now widely used to support digestive health, autoimmune conditions, mental wellbeing, and chronic inflammation.

Who might benefit from GAPS?

You may benefit from the GAPS approach if you experience:

  • Persistent digestive symptoms (bloating, reflux, constipation, diarrhoea)

  • Food sensitivities or intolerances

  • Mood, behaviour, or focus challenges (gut–brain connection)
